UNIVERSITY OF CALGARY A Novel Chaotic Estimation Technique and its Application to Spread Spectrum Communications
نویسنده
چکیده
This thesis proposes a novel technique for estimating parameters of a noisy chaotic signal. By exploiting the ergodic property of a chaotic signal, the proposed technique is capable of estimating chaotic parameters efficiently in low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). Simulations confirm that the proposed method outperforms other conventional chaotic parameter estimation techniques. Applying it to demodulator design for chaotic parameter modulation (CPM) spread spectnun (SS) digital communication, the new ergodic CPM (ECPM) system is shown to overcome the major handicap of current chaotic communication methods, that is, poor performance in noisy environments. The performances of ECPM and other major chaos based digital communication schemes are compared thoroughly in terms of noise performance, the effect of data rate, synchronization error and multipath channel. ECPM is found to have great performance and strong robustness under various conditions. The application of ECPM to SS analog communication is also investigated. The author wishes to thank Dr. H. Digital watennarlcing is an enabling technology to prove ownership on copyrighted material, detect originators of illegally copies, and to monitor the usage of the copyrighted multimedia data. Currently, the most popular approach for digital image watermarking is the correlation-based spread spectrum technique. In this thesis, several novel techniques for image watermarking based on chaotic spr...

In this paper an Importance Sampling technique is proposed to achieve blind equalizer and detector for chaotic communication systems. Chaotic signals are generated with dynamic nonlinear systems. These signals have wide applications in communication due to their important properties like randomness, large bandwidth and unpredictability for long time. In this work, a novel thinner derived from natural botany Chinese Larch Tree was obtained by combination lignin with phenol using H2O2 as oxidant and the acting efficiency of lignosulfonate in the drilling fluids is greatly enhanced after oxidation with H2O2. Both the chemical structure and the adsorptive ability of the oxidation...
متن کاملA New RSTB Invariant Image Template Matching Based on Log-Spectrum and Modified ICA
Template matching is a widely used technique in many of image processing and machine vision applications. In this paper we propose a new as well as a fast and reliable template matching algorithm which is invariant to Rotation, Scale, Translation and Brightness (RSTB) changes. For this purpose, we adopt the idea of ring projection transform (RPT) of image. In the proposed algorithm, two novel s...
متن کاملOptimum decoder for multiplicative spread spectrum image watermarking with Laplacian modeling
This paper investigates the multiplicative spread spectrum watermarking method for the image. The information bit is spreaded into middle-frequency Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) coefficients of each block of an image using a generated pseudo-random sequence. Unlike the conventional signal modeling, we suppose that both signal and noise are distributed with Laplacian distribution, because the ...
